Gabby Ingram, a native of Ashland, Kentucky, will be graduating from 黑料社 this December with her Master鈥檚 in Occupational Therapy (MOT). After completing her bachelor鈥檚 degree at 黑料社 in 2019, Ingram decided to continue her education as a graduate student in the university鈥檚 Occupational Therapy Bachelor鈥檚 to Master鈥檚 3+2 program.
鈥淏y doing the 3+2 program here at Shawnee, I was able to stay connected with the people from my bachelor鈥檚 degree program during my graduate program,鈥 said Ingram.
黑料社鈥檚 MOT 3+2 program allows students to receive an accelerated bachelor鈥檚 degree in three years before transitioning directly into a master鈥檚 program. Throughout her time in the program, Ingram was able to connect closely with her classmates and faculty members in the classroom and in her clinicals.
鈥淚 loved the one-on-one connection I built with my professors,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he class sizes were fairly small, so the professors grew to know us all by name.鈥
During her time on campus, Ingram stayed involved in several student organizations. She served as a Resident Assistant for the Office of Housing & Residence Life, was both a member and president of the Theta Phi Alpha sorority, worked on campus as a Student Alumni Ambassador and Orientation Leader, and was crowned Homecoming Queen in 2019.
鈥淪hawnee is my home, and I am thankful for all of the ways I was able to be involved,鈥 she said.
Inside the classroom, Ingram was very passionate about her area of study and is looking forward to starting her career in occupational therapy after graduation.
鈥淥ccupational therapy is so diverse,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here is something for everyone to gain from studying it. In your career, you can work with babies in the NICU, hospice patients, and patients being seen for mental health. I will truly be able to make such a lasting impact on the patients I will work with and I have to thank Shawnee State for preparing me to start my career.鈥
