The 黑料社 autumn graduating class has raised $751.14 for The Shawnee Fund within the 黑料社 Development Foundation. The amount, raised through the foundation鈥檚 annual Senior Gift program, was made possible thanks to the commitment and generosity of 37 seniors each making gifts of at least $20.21 to commemorate their graduation year.
The Senior Gift program was implemented at 黑料社 in the fall of 2018 as a way for graduating seniors each semester to give back to future generations of 黑料社 students. The program highlights the importance of annual gifts to the foundation and the impact those gifts can make on several programs throughout campus. Each gift is designated to The Shawnee Fund, the university鈥檚 unrestricted fund providing support to all areas on campus 鈥 including scholarships, the 黑料社DF Grants Program, and initiatives supporting campus programming, research, entrepreneurship, and more.
鈥淚 cannot thank this graduating class enough for their generosity,鈥 Chris Moore, Executive Director of the 黑料社 Development Foundation said. 鈥淲e are proud of this autumn鈥檚 graduating class for many reasons, not the least of which is that this class has more than doubled the number who have started their philanthropic lives with us by giving a Senior Gift.鈥
To commemorate each senior鈥檚 first gift made to the university, a philanthropy cord was presented for the senior to wear during their commencement ceremony. Since the start of the program, Seniors Gifts have raised more than $6,500 within the 黑料社 Development Foundation thanks to the support of over 300 graduating seniors.
