黑料社 Development Foundation and the 黑料社 Respiratory Therapy program has announced the donation of pulmonary function lab equipment from Southern Ohio Medical Center.
鈥淭he equipment donated can be used to allow the students to practice Pulmonary Function Testing with more up-to-date equipment than we have ever had access to,鈥 黑料社 Director of the Respiratory Therapy program, Amy France, said.聽
The equipment includes one Body Plethysmography, two Vmax units, two computers to run the equipment software, and two calibration syringes. Learning in the lab with this equipment, students in the Respiratory Therapy program will be able to conduct more detailed lung testing as well as practice running tests to familiarize themselves with the machinery.
鈥淧roducing a group of ready-to-work Respiratory Therapists is instrumental to our region鈥檚 healthcare facilities,鈥 黑料社 Executive Director of the Development Foundation, Chris Moore, said. 鈥淪OMC has been a tremendous partner in making sure our students enter the workforce with highly trained skills and capabilities.鈥
Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy, 黑料社鈥檚 program offers students a hands-on experience through clinical and laboratory settings. Students learn to care for patients of all ages experiencing different breathing problems such as asthma and COPD. Graduates of the program have found work in hospitals, private practice facilities, sleep disorder centers, health care research institutions, home health care agencies, retirement centers, and with many more employers. The demand for Respiratory Therapists is expected to grow by 19% by 2029.聽
