A senior from Hamlin, West Virginia, Josh Adkins knew 黑料社 was the college for him once he saw the small class sizes offered to students. Majoring in Health Sciences, Adkins found himself enjoying how those small class sizes offered him the chance to appreciate the diversity in his degree.
鈥淚 have classes that are more epidemiologic-based, and I have had other classes that are about the healthcare system as a whole,鈥 he said. 鈥淵ou can act on multiple opportunities with a degree in Health Sciences. It鈥檚 a very broad degree that allows me to learn a lot of different information.鈥
Considering his options after graduation, Adkins鈥 main plan is to pursue a Master鈥檚 in Occupational Therapy and work in the outpatient field.
鈥淲ith all the different job opportunities, that may end up changing,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 can always use my degree to get a job within the healthcare field as a patient advocate or go into medical sales with the knowledge I have gained.鈥
Balancing his course load, Adkins encourages anyone thinking about pursuing a degree in Health Sciences to be prepared to commit the time and work to the program for it to pay off.
鈥淭ime management is an important aspect of healthcare and this program definitely helps instill this into its students,鈥 he said.
Outside of his classes, Adkins is a student employee in the Clark Memorial Library on campus, helping students with any technical difficulties while also directing them to resources that can help them in class and around campus.
鈥淲e help with general campus information, and we have a very wide overview of responsibilities,鈥 he said. 鈥淕etting to meet all of my peers has most definitely been my favorite part. Working at the library has granted me so many opportunities to meet new people on campus.鈥
